Student Letters
The Office of International Services (OIS) provides a standard letter stating status, program and anticipated graduation date as a courtesy to international students with an active record on file. This letter may also state work authorization dates if applicable. OIS will contact you via email to let you know your letter is ready in your OIS portal.
OIS also provides Social Security Letters for students that need to apply for a Social Security Number (SSN). You will be required to submit a Social Security Letter request in your OIS Portal. OIS will email you when your letter is ready.
Once you have your letter, you can schedule an appointment at any Social Security office near you. You will need to bring your Social Security Letter from OIS, your I-20, Passport, student visa, and I-94 form.
It can take up to 2 weeks for the Social Security Association (SSA) to process your SSN.
